NP Elite was founded on a simple yet powerful belief: every child deserves access to quality coaching, positive mentorship, and the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their financial circumstances or starting skill level.
We saw a clear need for a program that develops more than just talented athletes and at a nominal cost. Our goal is to build a community that serves as a launchpad for life, teaching young athletes core values that extend far beyond the hardwood: character & discipline, teamwork & communication, and confidence & resilience.
To create an environment where families feel supported, coaches deeply invest in each child’s growth, and athletes are challenged to become the absolute best version of themselves, both on and off the court.
NP Elite is deeply inspired by NBA Champion Norman Powell, whose remarkable journey from local talent to the highest level of basketball perfectly reflects the core values we strive to instill in every athlete. Norman’s success wasn’t built on talent alone. It was forged through relentless hard work, perseverance, humility, and an unwavering commitment to getting better every single day.
At NP Elite, Understand the Grind (UTG) is more than a slogan, it’s the mindset that shapes our entire culture. UTG teaches our athletes that success doesn’t happen overnight. Greatness is developed one practice, one repetition, one challenge, and one decision at a time.

As a longtime friend and mentor to Norman, our Founder, Coach Rhett Butler, has witnessed this journey firsthand, from the early days of development to championship glory. These real-world experiences have directly shaped the culture, training standards, and vision of NP Elite.
At NP Elite, we believe that every single child has a place on our court. Whether an athlete is stepping onto the floor for the very first time or preparing to compete at an elite level, they deserve to feel welcomed, valued, encouraged, and challenged. We intentionally design our program to be a safe, supportive space where children from all backgrounds, abilities, and financial circumstances can thrive — through complete accessibility (scholarships and financial assistance), active mentorship, and a culture of respect.
